DHCP is Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol. An application layer protocol of the TCP/IP model used to assign IP addresses to clients. In addition to the IP address itself, the protocol can issue additional options such as subnet mask, default gateway, NTP server address, etc.

Configuration

  1. Go to the “Network services” → “DHCP server” menu.
  2. Check the “Enable DHCP server” checkbox.
  3. Select the network interface on which the DHCP server will operate (the field will become active after completing step 3).
  4. Fill in the fields:
    1. Starting IP address
    2. Ending IP address
    3. Subnet mask
  5. If necessary, fill in the “Router/gateway address” field.
  6. If necessary:
    1. Check the "Announce external NTP server" checkbox
    2. Fill in the “NTP server address” field.
  7. Click the “Apply” button.
