vWLC Minimum system requirements

  • Minimum disk space: at least 375 MB.
  • RAM: at least 3 GB.
  • Number of CPU: 1

Creating a virtual machine

Request the vWLC image "vwlc-1.27.0-buildX.iso" from the official ELTEX official website.

The file name depends on the software version and may differ from the above.

Creating a virtual machine using VirtualBoX hypervisor

1. Launch VirtualBox. Click the "New" button in the main menu to create a virtual machine.

2. In the "Name"field specify the name of the virtual machine. The name in the example is "vWLC".

It is recommended to give the virtual machine a simple and clear name.

3. Before selecting a disk, make sure that the user has permissions to work with it. Also make sure that the technical condition of the disk allows usng it as a system disk for the virtual machine.
In the "Folder" field specify the path where the virtual machine will be stored.

4. Select the ISO file of the vWLC image.

5. In the "Type" field select "Linux" OS.

6. In the "Version" field select any 64-bit version. In the example "Other Linux (64-bit)" is chosen.

7. Click "Next" to proceed to the next step.

8. Select the amount of RAM allocated to the virtual machine. For correct operation, it is recommended to keep a balance between the amount of RAM of the virtual and host system.

The minimum amount of RAM is at least 3 GB.

9. Select the amount of CPU allocated to the virtual machine. For correct operation, it is recommended to keep a balance between the amount of RAM of the virtual and host system.

10. Click "Next" to proceed to the next step.

11. Select the disk size for the virtual machine.

The minimum disk size is 375 MB, all space above the minimum limit will be allocated to flash/data.

The recommended disk size is 8 GB.

12. Click "Next" to proceed to the next step.

13. Review the final information about the virtual machine. If no changes are required, click "Finish".

The virtual machine has been successfully created.

Creating a virtual machine using ESXi hypervisor

1. Click "Create/Register VM".

2. Select "Create a new virtual machine".

3. Click "Next" to proceed to the next step.

4. In the "Name"field specify the name of the virtual machine. The name in the example is "vWLC".

It is recommended to give the virtual machine a simple and clear name.

5. In the "Compatibility" field specify the ESXi version on which you are operating.

6. In the "Guest OS family" field select "Linux" OS.

7. In the "Guest OS version" field select any 64-bit version. In the example "Debian GNU/Linux 4 (64-bit)" is chosen.

8. Click "Next" to proceed to the next step.

9. Select the storage for the virtual machine.

10. Click "Next" to proceed to the next step.

11. Select the amount of RAM allocated to the virtual machine. 

The minimum amount of RAM is at least 3 GB.

12. Select the disk size for the virtual machine.

The minimum disk size is 375 MB, all space above the minimum limit will be allocated to flash/data.

The recommended disk size is 8 GB.

13. Specify the status of “IDE controller” in “Controller location” for “Hard Disk”.

14. Specify the status of “LSI Logic Parallel” in “SCSI Controller”.

15. Specify “VMXNET 3” in “Adapter Type” for “Network Adapter”.

16. Specify the status of “Datastore ISO file” for “CD/DVD Drive”. The Disk Image Selection window opens.

17. Select the "vwlc-1.27.0-buildX.iso" image.

18. Click "Select" to confirm the selection.

19. Click "Next" to proceed to the next step.

20. Click “Finish” to create the virtual machine.

The virtual machine has been successfully created.

Installation of vWLC

To install vWLC, launch the virtual machine and connect to its console.

For installation on a Bare Metal server, it is recommended to write the image using the UNetbootin program. Next, start the vWLC installation from the recorded image.

1. Wait until the timer expires or press "Enter".

2. Use the "", "", keys to select "vWLC Installation".

3. Use the "", "" keys to select "OK" and click "Enter".

4. Click "Space". The "*" symbol will be displayed.
5. Use the "", "" keys to select "OK" and click "Enter".

6. Use the "", "" keys to select "Yes" and click "Enter".

7. After installation the "Installation complete. Please, reboot" message will be shown.
8. Type "reboot" in the command line and click "Enter".

The vWLC installation has been completed.
